And they're off! Well, the tractor is at any rate, like a drugged dinosaur hungry for stumps. Oh, to drive a tractor! What a miraculous machine!
Friday was our first big event. Up until this point we had spent time cleaning up land and talking big, but it wasn't till Friday that we brought out the big guns, in the form of the fabulous Roger Anderson, and his awesome o'l tractor. Our job was to widen to 15 feet the road we had previously installed across a neighbors front lawn. Don't you wish we were your neighbors too?! This road has been a pain in the patootie for at least the last ten years, and has left open the options of physical violence, flac jackets, and a strong police presence. Not the kind of energy you might wish in your quiet country life! But, well, no one likes a road through their lawn, no matter how legal or justifiable, and them country folk can be uppity. But, by some miracle, our previously violence prone neighbor called me darlin', and offered me some iris', along with his blessing to tear up even more of his lawn. There is a god!
On Saturday, we began clearing the actual house site. Crazy. Its incredible to actually stand there and think, wow, in not that far in the future, this'll be my front lawn! I'm going to have a front lawn! ... Oh dear, wait, mowing... ah well, first things first. Like, a house. Then a lawn mower.
So, an incredibly exciting start. First physical evidence that this is actually going to happen. I am going to have a home! I can't believe it! I took a gagillion photos, and shall upload as we go along. You can see the fabulous Mr. Anderson tearing through the forest like it ain't no thing!
