So, I am building a house. Or, more to the point, my mother and stepfather, fresh off their six year and counting sojourn in Europe (Malta, Sicily and Portugal... up next, Azores!) are here to (help me) build a house, with the all the crafty know-how and indefatigable fortitude of seasoned builders. I am along for the sweaty, dirty, thrilling ride. As are you, for here you may read of our trials and tribulations in the face of county planners, useless utilities, roads where they oughtn't be, and getting roads where they ought, neighborly intrigue, and all the thrills of creating something beautiful out of nothing.

How fun for you! Having built a house (well, we hired a builder) there are trials and tribulations. But have fun and I look forward to seeing your progress.
